I moved to Los Angeles two months back and am amazed by the culture over here. The dating game in Los Angeles is unique probably because of the glitter in the city of Angels. The aspect of dating which strikes out the most is the phone dating in this amazing city. People in Los Angeles care a lot about having a trendy phone. It is not surprising to see three or four working cell phones in the junk drawer. Note that the Los Angeles primary area codes are 310 and 323. I would advice you to change your number and get the local area code so that singles would feel more comfortable calling you. Also if you are still using phone which looks more like a brick, like it doesn't have a camera or can't play MP3s, you should consider buying a new phone. Los Angeles is the city of fashion and singles in Los Angeles take a great care about dressing up. If you plan to meet single men and woman in the nightclubs, you should shop for some good clothes and stay on top of your game.
Los Angeles is perhaps the only city where even the bums carry a cell phone. Even my maid has a cell phone and she uses it often to let me know when she's running late or wants to reschedule the clean. Last week I met a few girls at the bar and we decided to hang out sometime later. We were about to exchange numbers and when I pulled my Sony Ericsson three-year-old phone out they suddenly changed their mind as if their trendy phone might catch something to my old phone. Also, singles in Los Angeles do not follow the age-old dating rules. It is okay and in fact recommended to call the girl you met last night next day. One of the things that stands out the most is low attention span among single professionals in Los Angeles. Los Angeles is considered one of the best cities for single men and women and it provides many opportunities for singles to mingle. It is perfectly acceptable to ask for a date via text message. In fact text messages are preferred form of communication even over phone calls.
